Activities at Messiah

Fellowship and Recreation
We have also planned fun family activities which include: Each month we try to plan a different activity for the members to take part in, like going to a Twins game, MSU basketball and hockey games. We are in charge of the soup suppers during Lent, Easter breakfast, the poinsettias at Christmas. We are always looking for fun activities to do.

North Mankato Fun Days
For years the Messiah Brat and Pie stand has been a part of North Mankato Fun Days. We grill up the best brats and dogs on the midway. There is nothing like a big slice of Bakers Square pie with ice cream on it when you're at North Mankato Fun Days. We are always looking for people to help out. We also have a float in the North Mankato Fun Days Parade. Everyone is welcome to come and help with the float and be in the parade. Fun Days for 2006 is July 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. Sign-up at the church for work time slots.

Ladies' Night Out
The ladies at Messiah meet the second Monday of the month. We leave the husbands and kids at home for an evening of women bonding. We also plan activities to do; fall and spring women retreats, stamping and scrap booking, and they hope to add more activities.

Sporting Teams
If you like to play sports, we offer a men's Softball team and we also have volleyball teams.

Adopt-a-highway
Two to three times a year we clean the ditches of highway 14. It is our way to give back to the cities of Mankato and North Mankato. We need to keep our cities clean.

Family Activities
We plan occasional family activities. We go to Twin games and MSU basketball and hockey games which are sponsored through our fellowship and recreation Ministry Team.

Messiah Quilting Group
Last year over 125 quilts were made at Messiah and distributed to those in need. The ladies meet every other Tuesday in January - April. Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun. We donate them to Lutheran World Relief and other local shelters or areas of needs.

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
Each year Messiah collects household item (including lamps, chairs, bed, etc.), clothing, books, and toys to be donated to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. This past year we had several delegations from Messiah make the trip out to South Dakota to deliver the items. Sylvia Nesheim coordinates all the trips and organizes the donations that they take out there.
